Aromatic practice during pregnancy should recognize that the unborn baby is a secondary recipient of the oil application, no matter the method, and their reactions should be highly considered. The baby’s immature / developing immune system and detoxification system are not effective / selective against toxicity, where oils do and can cross the placenta at high potency. My training through The Brilliant Birth Academy as a Certified Aromatherapy Birth Consultant emphasizes conservative application strategies and safety training by adding an evidence-based practice-focused curriculum that gives a comprehensive education on the best oils for pregnancy and birth.
